Who created trips&friends?


The company was created in July 2019 by a student of the University Jean Moulin Lyon 3 but it was in Manchester, during a university exchange, that the idea was born. Traveling around the UK and discovering it from another angle and at affordable prices was possible thanks to an association focused on student life. A real "coup de coeur", accompanied by encounters and cultural enrichment, she wanted to introduce the concept in France.




What are the values of trips&friends?


trips&friends wants to be close and attentive to young people in order to create a community with a strong cultural background. We also want transparency with our participants, honesty and trust being important values for us.




Who are these trips for?


The trips we offer are aimed at young people between 18 and 25 years old as well as students. The age or student status is checked twice: once at the time of booking, prior to the trip, and again at the time of departure. Each participant will have to prove his or her status in order to access the transport. Groups of +10 people, student associations and BDEs have access to specific advantages on our tailor-made trips offer, thus offering an adapted solution.   • Access to a shared online space to facilitate the management of your documents and our exchanges.

  • Payment in two instalments: a deposit maximum 2 weeks after the return of the signed contract and a final payment before the departure date.
  • An accompanying person trained by our services accompanies you in order to manage the relationship with our suppliers and to be present in case of problems. He/she will not accompany you during your visits or during the day unless expressly requested to do so by you. However, he is available 24 hours a day on the travel site for emergencies and important questions.
  • A service at your disposal 24 hours a day: don't ask any more questions about schedules, a problem, a question, send us a message right away and we promise to answer as soon as possible!

I want to live a unique experience, can I customize my trip?


In order to make your experience more unique, we offer options for an additional cost on each of the offers in our pre-organized trips catalogue. These options are available and detailed on each of our offers. You can also find more details on the souvenir leaflet and our superkits in the " Our Specialities" section. We also offer a tailor-made trip creation solution where you can add all the options already present in our catalogue but also anything you want or need. We will do our best to offer you a price within the limits of what is possible. To do so, ask for your free quote on the dedicated page.





Reservation & Confirmation

How do I book my trip?


Would you like to choose one of our offers from our catalogue? Make your reservation request via the form on the offer page. You will receive a contract within 48 working hours to be sent back to us in order to validate your reservation. You wish to create your own tailor-made trip? You can request a quote via our contact form. You will be contacted by our services within 48 working hours who will give you the complete list of information we need to establish your quote as soon as possible.




The dates displayed in the catalogue of pre-organized trips do not suit me or there are none proposed, what can I do?


You have the possibility to propose yourself the date(s) you prefer. They will be added to the list and the other participants will be able to add them to your trip if these dates also suit them. You will have to reach a minimum of 10 participants one month before the departure date for your travel proposal to be validated.




How do I pay for my pre-arranged trip?


Trips are only confirmed if they reach a minimum of 10 participants at least 1 month before the departure date. That's why we don't ask for any payment before this confirmation! You will therefore receive, together with the confirmation of your trip, an email asking for the payment of your trip.

  • You have booked more than 1 month in advance: you will have a maximum of 15 days to make the payment after confirmation of the trip.
  • You have booked less than one month in advance: you will have a maximum of 5 days to make the payment after confirmation of your booking.
The payment of these trips will be done via Paypal. However, you do not need to create an account for this purpose and simply make the payment as a guest.




How do I pay for my tailor-made trip?


You are a group of less than 10 people?
You will have 5 days to make the payment after signing the contract.
The payment of your tailor-made trip will be done by bank transfer or via Paypal, according to your preferences.
You are a group of more than 10 people, a student association or a BDE?
Take advantage of the payment in 2 installments: a deposit to be paid maximum 15 days after signature of the contract, then the final payment before the day of departure.
The payment of your trip will only be made by bank transfer. Student associations and BDEs can also have access to adapted payment and cancellation methods, contact us to find out more!




When will I receive confirmation of my reservation?


You will receive within 48 working hours a contract giving you all the details available at the time of your trip as well as our terms of use. You will need to return this signed contract to us in order to confirm your booking. You will then have to wait a maximum of 30 days before your departure date to find out if your trip is confirmed and has reached the minimum of 10 people required to go on the trip. You will receive an email once this threshold has been passed with payment instructions!




When will I receive my ticket with precise travel information?


Your ticket will be sent to you by e-mail maximum 7 days before the date of your trip.
It will contain all the practical information of your reservation (time and place of departure, travel time, address of accommodation if included...).

How does the interactive flyer work?


We propose you to discover the cities with the help of an interactive flyer! On one side, a map of the city with a recommended itinerary with the stages where the main attractions are located. On the other, QR codes for each of these steps to explain their history and characteristics as if you had a guide.
The interactive flyer will be given to you by our accompanying person on the outward journey, then we will collect them at the end of the trip on the return journey. If you wish to keep a souvenir of this flyer, we offer you an optional souvenir leaflet which includes the proposed itinerary and the historical elements given on each stage. What is the souvenir leaflet? How does it work?


We offer you the opportunity to keep a unique souvenir of your trip! This leaflet is composed of the map on our interactive flyers as well as the explanations of each step and its souvenir photo, taken by our services. Your leaflet will be sent to you within 7 days after the return date of your trip. In case of delay, you will be informed by email.




What is a superkit? How does it work?


Fancy a little something extra? Take advantage of our superkits!
We offer you the opportunity to add kits with the essentials for a good trip.
Pre-organized trips : You have access to 3 categories of kits! Be Smart, Be Green and Be Ready. Find the content of each pack on our dedicated page. Tailor-made trips: You can add superkits to your trip. In addition to the 3 categories present on the pre-organized trips, you can also decide to create your own tailor-made kit!




Can I add t&f specialties to my tailor-made trip?


Yes, but some of them are reserved only for groups of +10 people, student associations and BDE. Superkits : open to all, you even have access to create your own survival kit.
Interactive flyer and souvenir leaflet : only for groups of +10 people, student associations and BDE.





Trips

Is there a trip&friends accompagnying person during the trips?


Yes, except for tailor-made trips for groups of -10 people. On each of our trips an accompanying person is present. He does not accompany you during the visits of your stay but is present in town and available 24 hours a day during the period of the trip in case of problems or emergencies. Our guides all speak at least French and English.




What type of transportation is used during the trips?


In the current ecological context, we try to prioritize the use of trains or eco-responsible buses for our trips. Planes will only be used in the event of a long journey or if we are unable to offer an alternative means of transport.




What types of accommodation are included in the trips?


Whether for pre-organized or tailor-made trips, you will be accommodated in a youth hostel or equivalent.
However, you can request another type of accommodation on your tailor-made trips by indicating it to us in your quote request.





Cancellation, refund & delay

Can I cancel my reservation? Are there any charges?


Pre-organized trips :
You can cancel up to 30 days prior to the departure date of the trip free of charge. To do so, simply contact us by email and we will initiate the refund process.

Up to 15 days before the departure date, we will retain 50% of the price of your trip (options included) as a cancellation fee.
Beyond this period, we will no longer refund your reservation, except in the event of an accident or serious illness and on presentation of valid proof only. Tailor-made trips :
You can cancel up to 45 days prior to the departure date of the trip free of charge. To do so, simply contact us by email and we will initiate the refund process.
Up to 20 days before the departure date, we will retain 50% of the price of your trip (options included) as a cancellation fee. Beyond this deadline, we will no longer refund your reservation, except in the event of an accident or serious illness and on presentation of a valid receipt only. Student association or BDE?

If the trip is cancelled, how is the refund processed?


In case of cancellation, our services will automatically take care of refunding you the totality of your trip. A first email will be sent to you within 15 days following the cancellation to inform you in more detail of the procedure and deadlines.
If you have no news beyond these 15 days, please contact us as soon as possible via our contact form.




What happens if I'm late for the outward or return trip?


Please arrive 20 minutes prior to departure time on both the outward and return journey. If you are late and the transport has already left, it will be your responsibility to find a means of transport, this additional expense will be your responsibility. However, once there you will be able to take part in the trip.
In order to avoid this situation, the contact of our accompagnying person will be communicated to you beforehand and you will be asked to communicate yours in order to facilitate the exchanges.
